Rediscover nature

Did you know that Cape Town has been named by theculturetrip.com as one of the 10 greenest cities in the world, “where cutting-edge urban culture can be enjoyed alongside the outdoors”.

The Mother city joined the esteemed ranks of other water-linked cities, like Amsterdam, Singapore, Copenhagen. It is the city’s “numerous nature reserves, miles of dramatic coastline, and an efficient public transport system, ” that earned Cape Town its spot on the list.

Getting outside for a breath of fresh air is more important now than ever before, not only for our physical health but also our mental health. Spending time with nature in whichever capacity you’re able to will definitely go a long way. Cape Town and its surrounds are home to many nature reserves. Many of these reserves offer activities for those who like to spend time outdoors. From picnic spots to hiking trails and much more, there’s an activity for everyone to enjoy.

So step out there, visit the great outdoors, why not embark on a hiking trail or trek further afield, try the Cape Camino, or even an adventerous Cycle Tour.

Dive into African cuisine

Awaken your taste buds with a tour of foods from around africa try moyo Kirstenbosch, or a food-themed walking tour in our city, learn the secrets to organically made chocolate, or simply visit one of the many produce markets around the city.

Learn a new skill

Be adventerous, have a go at paragliding or skydiving. 😊 No matter what your interests are from art, crafts or cooking, being able to learn a new skill in these testing times will help you express yourself. Maybe immerse yourself in a new culture from around the world. It surely is an incredible goal to have for 2021?

Cape Town has partnered with the World Travel & Tourism Council and assumed the role of a Safe Travels Ambassador.

We are proud to have received this globally recognised Safe Travels Stamp and as the official Destination Marketing and Management Organisation for the City of Cape Town, we are now also able to issue the stamp to tourism businesses who adhere to the set-out guidelines. This means that Cape Town becomes part of a global network of destinations committed to adhering to strict health and safety protocols.

This role is vital in ensuring that that Cape Town’s businesses are ready for inter-provincial and international travel. Cape Town is ready to issue the WTTC Safe Travels stamp to businesses that are doing their utmost to ensure visitor safety by following the recommended protocols and guidelines.

The Safe Travels stamp is the world’s first-ever global safety and hygiene stamp for Travel & Tourism, designed specifically to address COVID-19 and similar outbreaks. The stamp will allow travellers to recognise destination authorities and companies that have implemented health and hygiene protocols that are aligned with WTTC’s Safe Travels Protocols.

These global protocols were developed in collaboration with WTTC Members, leading industry associations & international organisations. They take into account the current guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
