Kayak Cape Town

Take a 2-hour guided tour on a double Kayak paddling the warm waters of False Bay, visiting the Penguins of Boulders Beach.

Boulders Beach Penguins are very unique and the best way to see is from the water. We meet at the town jetty in Simon's Town for an introduction to paddling and a safety briefing. We then paddle out past the civilian and Naval Harbours where you get a bonus close up view of our naval vessels and then onto the penguins.

The Experience:

These double kayaks are very stable and perfect for those with no paddling experience. Children 8 years old and up are welcome provided they can paddle. This is a trip every able-bodied individual can and should do. 

Wear shorts, T shirt, hat and sunscreen. You can go barefoot but sandals are a good idea (not flip flops as they tend to come off when you walk in water). You will get wet so bring a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards. In winter longs like tracksuit bottoms and a sweater or windbreaker is advised. 

Bookings essential, first trip departs 08:30 summer. On weekends there’s an 11am trip.

Did You Know:

On the way we will normally encounter a number of seals. If the time and tide is right we may stop on a beach for a swimming break, or else we swim from the kayaks and get a close up look at penguins nearby.

The African Penguin is highly endangered and you can help to save them with a small donation to the volunteer run SANCCOB organisation, a registered non-profit whose primary objective is to reverse the decline of seabird populations through the rescue, rehabilitation and release of ill, injured, abandoned and oiled seabirds, especially the African Penguin.
