Bertha’s has become synonymous with eating in Simon’s Town, home to the colony of endangered penguins at Boulder Beach. Located on the quay, Bertha’s restaurant overlooks the Naval base, yacht club, and False Bay, just off the ‘Simon’s Town Historic Mile.’ Its cosy and quaint nautical style décor will really have you in the mood to sample some outstanding seafood, too. Not only can customers enjoy fantastic views, but also mouth-watering local delicacies – especially the oysters, freshly caught each day.

If you fancy working up an appetite, take the train to Simons Town and enjoy the leisurely 10-minute walk along the Historic Mile, along St George’s Street, from the railway station to the East Dockyard Gates. The walk takes you on a journey through time and captures the history of Simon’s Town from 1741 when the Dutch East India Company laid down their anchor for the winter months. Today, it is home to the South African Navy.
